WAIKOUAITI NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent-) WATKOUAITI, January 24. CORNER BUSH PLANTATION. A start is to be made shortly with the felling of Coiner Bush Plantation, a wellknown land-mark, in the Merton district. A big up-to-date plant is now on the ground, and in course of erection, and milling will be commenced as soon as the electric power is available, probably before the end of the week. It is estimated that it will take five years to cut down the plantation. THE HOLIDAYS. This has been a record season so far as visitors have been concerned, and accommodation has been taxed to its utmost. During most of the • holidays the weather has been ideal, and the beach both here and at Karitane has been well patronised. RIFLE CLUB. The competition for the Branson Cup has just been concluded, the trophy being won by Mr B. B. Ward. The following are the scores, the best two to count: First shoot, at SOOyards ■ and 300 yards.— J.
