ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
LITTLE BOY'S DEATH. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. January 21, Admitted to Wellington Hospital on Monday, suffering from burns sustained when a’ paper fancy dress which ho was wearing caught alight, Dongald . Grant, aged seven years and a-half, died at 4 o’clock yesterday morning. The boy was in a critical condition at the time of his admission to the institution. DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDENT. (Special ro Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, Janary 21. An inquest concerning the death of Henry 'Thomas Patterson, who died in Hie Wellington Hospital yesterday week shortly after his admission with both his legs badly crushed as the result of his having boon caught in a mixer at tho Gasco°Brick Company's works at Miramar, was held before Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M. (coroner), to-day. Tho evidence was to tho effect that Patterson evidently stood up on either side of a mixer for the purpose of oiling a bearing which was just above tho machine, and that in getting down from this position ho slipped his foot into it. _ It was necessary to dismantle tho machine partly in order to extricate him, and this occupied an hour and 20 minutes._ The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death.
