Mr J. M. Mackenzie, a member of the staff of the Auckland Star, passed through Dunedin on Saturday on his way to Auckland. Miss M. Jepson, the Otago ladies’ 100 yards swimming champion, accompanied by Mr and Mrs W. Jepson left on Saturday morning for Auckland, where she will compete in the forthcoming Dominion swimming championships. Mr W. Turnbull, who was run down by a motor lorry at the Fountain about four weeks ago, has had his left foot amputated. Mr Turnbull, whose home is in Nelson, is well known in Dunedin, and his many friends will be pleased to hear that he is progressing satisfactorily. A London cablegram states that Colonel Moore Brabazon has resigned the Parliamentary secretaryship of the Ministry of Transport in order to become chairman of a company. Mr C. L. Gillies, 8.A., who recently held the position of instructor in agriculture at the Timaru Boys’ High School, has resigned, and has left for Hobart to take up the position of chief agricultural instructor in Tasmania. Mr James Allen left for Wellington by Saturday morning’s express.
