It has been said that there is no bad beer, but some beers are better than others, but the action of a meeting of freezing works employees recently decided that some beer was “black” and not amber. It was stated in Hastings that a certain hotel there had been placed out of bounds as far as the freezing works iviion labour is concerned. Questioned on the point, the licensee of the hotel stated to a Napier Daily Telegraph reporter that in response to a request from a man who had worked at one of the works for 20 years', he had sent down five gallons of ale, and for this no charge was made.
