MANCHESTER UNITY.
The annual_ summoned meeting of Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge was well attended, N.G. Bro. Frazer presiding. The election of office-bearers resulted:— G.M.. Bro. Frazer; N.G., Bro. W. P. Poyntz; V.G., Bro. Bertinsnaw; E. Sec., Bro. H. Pettne ;Warden, Bro. L. Boyd; Guardian, Bro. T. Tate. The district officers were received and welcomed, the Prov. G. M., Bro. Clarke, conducting the installation ceremony, assisted by several brethren. After thanks had been , expressed by the newly-elected officers, the Prov. G.M. addressed them on the importance of their duties. N.G. Bro. Lockhart presided over a very large attendance of the Loyal Milton Lodge. Resolutions of sympathy were passed with P.G. Geo. Bowie, D. Moyes, Bro. H. Moyes and Bro. Sutherland in their respective bereavements. P.G. Bro. Geo. M'Gregor was accorded a Past Grand’s certificate, and was recommended for the purple degree. The office-bearers elected were: G.M., Bro. D. B. Lockhart; N.G., Bro. W. M'Lean; V.G., Bro. R. Cockerill; E. Sec., Bro. G. Woodhead; Warden, Bro. E. Clark; Guardian, Bro. E. Martin. These officers were installed by G. Bro. M'Gregor and all returned thanks. ’ The season s greetings were received from Loyal. Albion and Prince of W’ales Lodges, to which P.G. Bro. A. W. Halton responded. It was reported that the visit to Loyal Tuapeka Pioneer had proved a great success, and it was decided to accept an invitation from Loyal Victoria Ladies’ v Lodge to a social evening. One candidate was initiated into the order and one proposed. Loyal Toko Juvenile Lodge was largely attended, the competitions for the various chairs being very keen. The office-bearers elected were: G.M;, Bro. A. M'Kechnie; N.G., Bro. C. Campbell; V.S., Bro., J. M'Donald; E. Sec., Bro. D. Walker; Warden, Bro. J. Keene; Guardian, Bro. Kirby. A resolution of sympathy was passed with Bro. D. Moyes on his recent bereavement. Loyal Prince of Wales’ juvenile lodge held its last meeting of the year, there being a good attendance. N.G. Bro. Bell presided. Consideration was given to the subject of a proposed juvenile lodge picnic to be held at Mosgiel. After discussion it was left to the Social Committee to arrange with P.G. Bro. Hay. The annual balance sheet showed that the lodge was in a healthy financial condition. Loyal Centenary Lodge had a good meeting it being well attended by members and visitors. After a candidate had been initiated a lodge meeting was held. P.P.G.M. Bro. B. H. Roseveare delivered the lectures and explained the significance of the degrees conferred. Loyal Prince of Wales’ Lodge was excellently attended. One candidate was initiated. The election of office-bearers resulted : G.M. Bro. Emerson; N.G. Bio. Jas. Fitzgerald; V.G., Bro. Gus Nelson; general secretary, Bro. J. H. Williamson; warden, Bro. V. C. Parker; guardian, Bro. H. Williamson. These officers were duly installed and returned thanks. P.P.G.M.. Bro. A. Cable presented a report of Lie surplus committee meeting, and the conclusions of the committee were received with favour. Per. secretary Bro. J. J. Johnstone dealt with the lodge quinquennial valuation report in an able manner. The progress of the lodge was shown to have been very gratifying during the period. The lodge was now among those having surpluses, and was in a very strong position financially. Loyal Albion Lodge held its meeting m the Stuart Street Hull, there being a lair atondance of members and visitors. P.G. Bro. A. W. Hatton, of Milton Lodge, was welcomed, A discussion on matters affecting publicity took place, nearly every member nresent participating. kSOtue good suggestions were made, and the matters ,n question were well thrashed out. A donation was made in connection with the juvenile lodge, and it was decided to participate in recognition of the services of P.G. Guild to the juveniles. Responses to the visitors’ toast were made by Loyal Valley and Milton Lodges. Special mention was made at a recent meeting by Prov, G.M. Clark of some experiences in lodges of Central Otago, notably that in the outlying township of Cambrians, where he found the well attended and efficiently conducted. The con- - stent labours of the Per. Sec. Bro. E. Morgan were somewhat rewarded by the increased interest taken by members. At the Loyal Dunedin Lodge meeting the following officers were elected: —G.M., Bro. Cowie; N.G., Bro. Lazarus; V.G., Bro. Hastie; G.Sec.. Bro. M'Call; Warden, Bro. Andrews; Guardian, Bro. Barraclough. The officers were installed in their chairs by Prov, G.M. Bro. Clark, assisted by various officers. The Prov. G.M and D.P.G.M., Bro. Stnbb addressed the gathering. P.G. Scoones opened a most interesting discussion on the subject of the lodges valuation, the figures quoted showing the surplus to be £14,093, compared with £7087 in 1919. The interest earnings, 5.70 per cent., were the result of close and careful investment of funds. P.G. Bro. Thomson spoke on the subject and humorously criticised the proposed distribution. D.P.G.M. Bro. P. Stabb, P.P.G.M. Bro. Robson and others congratulated the lodge on its splendid achievements and recalled honoured names of the past. A notable visitor, P.P.G.M. Bro. Brightwater, of Lyttelton district, was accorded a warm reception, and he was listened to with great interest.
