AQUATICS.

OTAGO YACHT ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held last evening. Mr J. T. Paul presided, and the following delegates were present:— Messrs E. A. Davys, H. Camp, A. D. Asher, F. Boswell, T. Anderson, W. O. Martin and G. Bewley. Mr Paul said that the meeting had been called principally for the purpose of discussing with Mr G. E. Kellett certain matters in connection with the arrangements to be made for the Otago crew taking part in the Sanders Cup contest at Lyttelton in February. In congratulating Mr Kellett on being selected, with his boat Winifred and crew, to represent the province, Mr Paul said that the selection was fully merited, and it was also a very popular one. They felt sure that Mr Kellett, after his long experience in most of the past contests, would worthily uphold the honour ot the province, and they all hoped that Winifred and her crew would bring the cup back to Otago. The question of appointing an extra man to act as skipper of Winifred in case of emergency was considered in committee. The Canterbury Yachting Association wrote stating that the Cornwell Cup contest would be controlled by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club. It had been decided to forward the Otago Association’s protest against the decision to sail the first race on February 11 to the Canterbury Club.—Mr Anderson said the rules distinctly stated that in any port where there was a yacht association representing sailing clubs the challenge must be made by the association.—lt was decided to write to the Canterbury oody drawing its attention to the rules. OTAGO YACHT CLUB. General routine business in connection with the season’s operations was dealt with at a meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club Committee held on Tuesday evening. It was decided to sail the race for the Oliphnnt Cup (Jellicoe class boats) on March 19.
