GENERAL NEWS.
The regular meeting of Royal Oak Lodge was held in the lodge room, Caversham, A.D. Bro. Isaac presiding over a largo attendance. D.P. Bro. Harvey was present and received a hearty welcome. The following visitors were present: —B.G.P, Bro. Bryant, P.A. Bros. Maybee, Johns, and Napier, and Bra Cormack. The invitation from Ivanhoe Lodge was accepted, and it was decided to make itf an official visit to hear Bro. Fauld's address. One candidate was presented and the ceremony of initiation duly carried through. The three can- | didatos standing for the position of D.P. I were given an opportunity to address the I meeting, after which the election for the position was proceeded with lender the I direction of P.G.P. Bro. Bryant and D.P. Bro. Harvey, who had been appointed scrutineers. The installation of officers was ably carried through by D.P. Bro. Harvey, assisted by P.G.P. Bro. Bryant. The regular meeting of All Nations Lodge was held at Port Chalmers, being presided bver by V.A. Bro. M‘Gregor. Routine business was duly carried through and sick pay to the amount of £7 10s was passed for payment. West Harbour Lodge wrote congratulating the lodge on its position in the GE. competition. It was decided to attend Ivanhoe Lodge next meeting on its invitation. A vote of thanks was accorded P.A. Bro, Laing on his resigning office after a period of 38 years. D.P. Bro. MT’arlane, assisted by P.D.P. Bro. Reeves, ably installed the officers for the ensuing term, after vfhich he presented to P.A. Bro. M'Kenzie his P.A. collar, the latter suitably replying. Bro. Reeves was recommended as a member of the Hall Committee in place of Bro. Craig, resigned. Enterprise Lodge meeting was well attended, keen interest being taken in the election of D.P. for which a vote was taken and the papers sealed and sent to the grand secretary. D.P. Bro. Harvey paid an official visit and was warmly welcomed, and later in the evening, assisted by Bro. Kuston, P.D.P., ably installed the various lodge officers. One member was readmitted, after which the toast of the visitors was given, and responded to by D.P. Bro. Harvey, P.D.P. Bro. Ruston. and P.A, Bros. Johns, Napier, and Logie. The monthly meeting of the St. Clair School Committee was held on Thursday evening, Mr L. Rhodes being in the chair. Matters in connection with the annual break-up were fully discussed, and it was decided to hold the function on Thursday, December 16. The average roll call for the month was distinctly good, and the health of the children excellent. The plans from the Education Board’s architect were submitted about improving the grounds and, with slight alterations, were approved.
