BRAVERY REWARDED.
BOY’S PLUCKY ACT. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND. December 10. A pleasant function took place at Huapai School this alternoon, when the Hon. R. A. Wright (Minister of Education) presented Raydon Bruce Hill, aged 13, with the Royal Humane Society’s certificate for bravery. Among those present were the Hons. C. J. Carrington and W. H. Tnggs, M.L.C.’s. The Minister said he had hoped the Prime Minister himself would have been able to present the oerti’eate, but this had proved impossible. The brave act lor which the Royal Humane Society presented the certificate had been performed by Bruce Hill at great personal risk. The horse and trap in which sat a girl six years of age was standing in the Waimauku station when the animal became frightened and started to bolt. The boy jumped forward grabbed the reigns, but he fell and the trap passed over him. However, the horse’s speed was checked and it drew up some distance away. The boy received injuries which confined him to his bed for three weeks b il t he hac quite recovered again.
