THE FREEZING DISPUTE.
NORTH CANTERBURY WORKS. KILLING OPERATIONS ON MONDAY. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 10. The North Canterbury S'hecpfarmors’ Freezing Works at Kaiapoi will be opened for the season on Monday, when about a dozen butchers, all unionists, will commence killing. A STATEMENT DENIED. NO OPPOSITION TO ALLIANCE. (Peb United Peess Association.) GISBORNE, December 9. A statement was published in aji evening journal on Thursday that the members of the Poverty Bay Freezing Union were nov, in accord with the attitude of the Alliance of Labour in connection with the recent trouble. It was stated that a recent meeting was reported to be attended by 100 unionists, and a resolution expressing no confidence in the Alliance of Labour was carried by a majority of two to one. The matter was referred to Mr C. E. Bickford (secretary of the Freezers’ union), who said that there was no truth in the statement and denied that such n resolution as reported had been carried.
