Oscar Lorenzen and Albert Norman Chanraan, charged with several offences under the Bankruptcy Act when trading as the Newton Manufacturing Company, furniture makers, were committed for trial on bail of £l5O each in their own sureties. They started with £2o capital in October, 1924, and when adjudicated bankrupt on August 19 last their unsecured debts HAMILTON, December 10. Cyril Gervaise Gould Long, a mained man, well known as a chiropractor in Hamilton, appeared in the Magistrate s Court this morning after having been remanded for a week in custody on three charges of indecent assault on female patients. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court Bail was allowed in two sureties of £250 each, and a personal surety ot £SUU. The hearing of the Tokoroa land case, in which Frederick Freeman Rogers sued the Matarawa Land Company (Ltd.) for £IOOO damages for alleged misrepresentation was concluded before the Supronic Court late to-day. Five issues were sub ; mitted to the jury, and after a four hours retirement the jury announced a unammous negative reply to the nist Question* reading- “Did the defendant company falsely and fraudulently represent to plaintiff in March. 1925, that the and of the defendant was good dairying land and that people with established dairying herds were doing as well there as anywhere in New Zealand, whilst the land was only a quarter of the price of dairying land in Taranaki and was giving equal returns?” The jury disagreed on the four other questions. A daylight burglary took place at A. L. D. Slickleton's residence, Balfour Estate, on the Main road, a £lO note, a gold 'watch and chain, and a suit of clothes being taken.
