PRISONER SENTENCED.

THREE YEARS FOR ASSAULT. , On Friday last a young man named Eric George Barlow pleaded guilty to having on November 23, assaulted Alexander Stewart so as to oauso him actual bodily harm, and yesterday ho was brought before his Honor Mr Justice Sim for sentence. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr ,F. B. Adams) said that the prisoner had .been an inmate of a mental hospital for some time, and had .left tho institution about 14 months ago. There appeared to have been some kind of attachment between him and the wife of the man ho injured. His Honor; It seems to bo a mental case. Tho Probation Officer (Mr F. G. Gumming) said he had no recommendation to make. His Honor thought the best course to adopt would be to place the prisoner under tho control of tho Prisons Board. Ho would ho ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for a term of three years.
