WANAKA NOTES.

(Fkc-j Ode Own Corbesponhent.) PEMBROKE, December 6. Wanaka is being treated to beautifully fine weather, which at present, looks like continuing. As yet there has-been, no drought, and as a result the whole district appears very beautiful. Shearing is going on busily on all the sheep runs. This year the Wanaka Domain Board has put through a considerable amount of work, the result of which will be of interest to tourists. The jetties at Pigeon Island and the Neck Landing have been built, and the track through to Lake Hawea cleared in readiness for the proposed round trip. Tourists will leave Wanaka by launch and proceed to Pigeon Island, where morning tea will be partaken of. They will then cross to the Neck Landing, a here a stop will be made for lunch, before setting out on the short walk from the anaka to the Hawea side. On arrival at the Hawea landing,, they w ill proceed by launch to the head of the Hawea River, where a new wharf is being erected. After having afternoon tea at the Hawea accommodation house, thov will bo conveyed by the White Star service cars through the picturesque Hawea Flat to Wanaka. As the season progresses it is hoped to run the trip both ways. Tourists may gq first to Hawea returning by Wanaka or vice Previous visitors to the tric {. j interested to know that the Matotapu River has been bridged. The thought of crossing this river has m the past deteired many persons from making the journey to Niger hut from which point such a wonderful view of Mount Aspiring . tained.
