AMATUER ATHLETICS.
VISIT OF AMERICANS ABANDONED. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, December 7. On the grounds that it would be courting disaster to proceed with the tour, the council of the N.Z.A.A.A. unanimously decided to abandon the proposed visit this season of the two American athletes. The greatest factor in the decision was the recent decision of the American authorities that foreign tours shall be of only 21 days’ duration. That made it absolutely impossible for an American tour or any other tour to be a financial success. WOMAN ATHLETE HONOURED. PROPOSED OLYMPIC COMPETITOR. (Special to Daily Times.! WELLINGTON, December 7. Miss N. Eastwood, the Gisborne lady athlete, was honoured by the council of the N.Z.A.A.A. to-night, when that body decided to forward her name to the Olympic Council as being up to the Olj'mpie Games standard. Her time was stated to be l-ssec slower than the world’s second best. Her time recently would not be recognised as a New Zealand record owing to the fall of the ground. The latter defect, however, was counter-balanced by the heavy state of the track.
