. FIRE ON THE IDOMENEUS. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 6. The fire on the steamer Idomeneus is out. Half of the meat shipment in the affected hold will be lost. CAPTAIN WILLIAMS’S PLIGHT. SYDNEY, December 5. Captain Williams passed over Jcrvois Bay cn route to Melbourne. SHIPPING BOARD CHAIRMAN RESIGNS. SYDNEY, December 6. (Received Dec. 0, at 9 p.m.) Mr H. G. B. Larkin, chairman of the Commonwealth Shipping Board, has resigned. It is understood that Ids action is due to differences of opinion with the other members of the board. BUSH FIRE FATALITY. SYDNEY, December G. (Received Dec. 6, at 9 p.m.) The bush fires in the North-western districts caused serious damage before heavy rain extinguished them. Mr Norman Beveridge, a well-known grazier at Narromine, was assisting to fight the flames with two other men when a sudden change of wind trapped them. All were sent to hospital, and Mr Beveridge later succumbed to his injuries. CYCLONIC STORMS. SYDNEY, December 6. (Received Dec, G, at 9 p.m.) There were many narrow escapes during a cyclone at Albury, which caused extensive damage to buildings. The crops in the surrounding districts suffered severely. A message from Brisbane says that a violent storm at Abcrcorn causal much damage. Many residents wore injured by flying debris.
