Dear Sir, — Last month I went for a trip through the North and South Islands in my Chevrolet car on “Big Tree” Motor Spirit, and the results were so satisfactory that I am sure you will be glad to know about them. I travelled from Dunedin to Blenheim, and from Wellington to Taihape, via Palmerston North. In all, I travelled 1576 miles, and, out of curiosity, I kept a careful record of the petrol consumption all the way. Only 52 gallons were used, giving the remarkable performance of more than 30 miles to the gallon. The load consisted of four adults and two children, of a total weight of 8541 b, not including luggage. I enclose list of my purchases of "Big Tree" en route, and it makes very interesting.reading. .
