Almost perfect shooting conditions prevailed at the. Green Island grounds on Saturday afternoon. A slight breeze was in evidence at first, and afterwards a dead calm, with a white skyline which favoured the shooters The programme provided for an 18 clay bird handicap trophv match for prizes valued at two guineas and one guinea, also for .. consolation match of 12 birds for similar prizes, open to members who had not won trophies over a guinea in value during the season. In the first match, A. King, from the 13 yard mark, secured 17 breaks (15 first barrel) and won the first prize. A compli ment was paid to tho club’s handicapper, E P. Graham, to find the second prize winner, as no fewer than nine competitors had to shoot off—viz.. H. Smellie, R. M’Donald, T Long, H. M‘Lay, W Smellie. C. M‘Lay, R. Morrson, E. P Graham, and A A. Fairbairn. The last four dropped out early, H. M’La'y on the sixth, R. M’Donald and T. Long on the seventh, leaving H. Smellie from the 13 yard mark with a total of 23 out of 25 for the second prize. Five members were entitled to enter for the consolation match of 12 birds, and. with a total of 11 breaks. T Callaghan was declaimed the winner. An interesting shoot off took place for second prize between H. M’Lay and A. A. Fairbairn, the former winning on the eighteenth bird. In conjunction wUh tho consolation match, tho other members competed for a sweepstake, which was won by C. M‘Lay, 15 yards, 12 breaks, R. M’Donald, W. Smellie, and R. Morrison each broke 11, all first barrels, and H. Sraellio 11, with only one second barrel. A gold medal, valued at three guineas, for the highest aggregate during the 1926 season, was won by E. P. Graham, with W Smellie a close second.
