COMEDY IN COURT.
A PRISONER GETS AWAY, Sentenced at Lyons to three months’ imprisonment for theft, a prisoner slipped away into a side corridor of the court. Meeting a policeman on duty, the fugitive coolly said to him, “I fear I have lost my way. Could you show me the way out?” “Open the first door on the left, and you will find the stairs,” replied the uniformed man. In his hurry to clear out the sentenced man made a mistake and opened a door on the right. “No, no,” said the polite policeman, laughingly ; ‘‘that leads to the court prison.” The fugitive laughed, too, and walked out by the right door—that is to say, the left door. And so he got away.
