ENVOY TO WASHINGTON
AN AUSTRALIAN MINISTER. SPECULATION RENEWED. <Pvaj» Association— By Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, December 2. > (Received Dec. 3, at 11.50 p.m.) In a speech made to-day by Sir Hugh Denison (Australian Trade Commis-' sioner) before the New York State Cham- 1 ber of Commerce, he said: “The same diplomatic relations that rule between America and other countries, will probably in the not distant future exist between my country and yours. This is interpreted as meaning that Australia will shortly appoint a Minister Plenipotentiary in the United States, and lias aroused much interest. The feeling is that while such an envoy would be enthusiastically received there is little likelihood that the United States will jeciprocatc by sending a Minister to Australia. Official circles believe that the present Consular representatives are sufficient t< handle American interests in Australia. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
