CHRISTIAN CONGREGATIONS.

MEETING OF COUNCIL. The quarterly meeting of the Council of Christian Congregations was held in the First Church schoolroom on Thursday. The president, the Rev H. E. Bellhouso, was in the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. The treasurer (Mr Rosovear) presented the balance sheet of the Gipsy Smith Mis.ion, which was adopted. Tho thanks of the council were expressed to the secretary (tho Rev. G Miller), the treasurer, Brigadier Bur ton, Messrs Todd, M‘Rae, and the Rev. W. B. Soolt for their valuable services during the mission. Mr Davidson, as conductor of the Mission Choir, was accorded the thanks of the council. Tho matter of the curriculum of tho Otago School of Religious Education was again referred bark to the executive to consult with Mr Blair. Tho council expressed its strong appreciation and approval of the action _of the City Council in the matter of closing the places of entertainment on Christmas Day. Letters of sympathy were instructed to ho forwarded to Mr and Mrs Taylor mid Mrs E. C. Todd. . . r , , , , Tho report of the Bible in Schools Syllabus Committee was presented by the Rev. M. Hamblett. The report was adopted and copies of tho syllabus ordered to he printed. Tho adoption of the proposed syllabus was urged upon those giving religious Instruction in the day schools.
