For several years past the congregation of the Milton Methodist Church has conducted a Christmas tree carnival and sale of work on the Milton summer show days, to supplement the church funds. As a result of these annual special efforts the church coffers generally benefit to the extent of about £l7O, and this weeks carnival maintained 'the average. Several stalls and competitive novelties served to attract liberal patronage, with the result that the gross takings for the afternoon and evening’s festivities amounted to £l9O, whilst the expenses are not expected to exceed £2O. For the success attending the function great credit is due to the stallholders, assistants, and general workers. The following is a list of the principal stallholders: —Sewing stalls fancy, Mesdames W. Gatman and J. Cockerill; plain, Mesdames H. Wells and J. Bowie. Produce stall: Mesdames Wright and A.
