THE WEATHER.
CHANGEABLE CONDITIONS. After three days of summer weather, when the conditions were exceptionally warm, there was a decided change yesterday morning. Heavy rain commenced to fall at an early hour, and .continued intermittently until late in the afternoon. The conditions were still very unsettled last night, the sky being heavily banked with rain-clouds. The temperature readings this week have varied considerably. On Monday the thermometer rose to 71 degrees. It was the warmest day experienced this month. At 8 a.m. on Monday the baromotor reading was 30.04. The mercury remained fairly steady that day, but fell to 29.95 on Tuesday. Thereafter it fell rapidly, the reading on Wednesday evening being 29.57. The most noticeable drop was yesterday, when the barometer stood at 29.43 at 8 a.m., and 29.25 at 5 p.m. The latter reading was the lowest registered since November 4. There wore indications of a further drop last night. RAIN AT ALEXANDRA. (F.bom Ocr Own Cobbesfondent.) ALEXANDRA, November 25. After a few days' warm weather with much wind, a steady warm rain set in this morning and continued until midday. The rain has now ceased, but the weather is still unsettled and a further fall seems .probable. The changeable weather has had a somewhat adverse effect on the strawberry crop, the recent rains having retarded growth to a considerable extent. Although the rain will interfere with shearing operations, it will benefit the district greatly.
