COLLIE DOG ASSOCIATION.
OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND CLUBS. There was a good attendance of delegates from the collie dog clubs of Otago and Southland at a meeting held last evening. Mr D. Ross, Palmerston, (president of the association) occupied the chair. The Secretary (Mr J. P. Walls) reported on the work carried out since the annual meting in June, and submitted a statement of finances as at September 30, showing a credit balance of £lB 2s 3d.—The report was adopted, members remarking on the satisfactory state of the finances.
The draw for the championship resulted in Ngapara Club being successful. Garston Club brought forward the following remit:—“That this club is of the opinion that the championship meeting be held in a central position, and run under the auspices of the Championship Association.” —A full discussion took place, and the remit was held over till the annual meeting in June next. A remit from the annual meeting as to tlie payment of the association’s prizemoney when a do- had failed to qualify for first place in any of the championship events was discussed. The association, under the present rules, hands over to the club holding the championship two-thirds of the subscriptions from the affiliated clubs towards the prize money in the championship events. In the case of the last championship no dog qualified for second or third places in one of the events, and the question was afterwards raised did the club in retaining the money, though not paying it away in prizes, do right, or should it have returned to the association? —After a discussion it was decided to communicate with the last club holding the championship regarding the return of the unexpended prize money, and notice of motion was given to add to the rules that “all unexpended prize money must be returned to the association.” This notice will come un /or confirmation at the annual meeting in June. A remit from the annual meeting as to the qualification of a dog to run in the championship events was discussed and the following notice of motion was tabled for the next annual meeting: “That onlv first, second and third \prize-takers be elegible to compete in th» championship.” It was resolved to make a recommendation to the club holding the championship that the trials be held about the middle of June, when all other clubs had held their trials for that season. The official list of judges was revised and added to. The list now stands: Messrs M. J. Fahey (Evans Flat!. D, Morgan (Te TTotika), Geo. Ross (Palmerston). J. A. Murdoch (Toiro), P. Kane (Windsor), D. J. Matheson (Palmerston), A. Stewart (Dunedin), J. Prendergast (Wallacetown), P. A, Watt (Warepa). John Evans (Otautnnl, W. F. Murrav (Miller’s Flat!, Adam Elliott (Redcliffs).
