USES OF LIZARD SKIN.
There ig no getting away from lizard skin this season (says the Manchester Guardian). In Paris it is essential to possess something of a lizard nature, or at least its imitation. The hag is the obvious vehicle for this popular skin, which is made to tone in with various pink greys in the dress. It is largo and square. It may have a jewelled top, but more often it has a fastening which kseps the colour of the skin. It is carried under the arm like the “serviette” of a French professor The umbrella handle can be of lizard skin. Very costly umbrellas are made on the short model with a thick handle covered with the skin A.t the end the handle may be finished with a stone in jade green or perhaps in grey to match. The umbrella is generally of thick black silk with a brocaded border, also in black. With the grey suit, the umbrella itself may be purple and the stone at the top of the handle is also in that colour. Both suit and umbrella fittings are toned up to the lizard skin. Lizard skin hats are seen in a good many Paris shops. These are, however, for sporting rather than for town use. For the town, the trimming only is made of the skin, which is used with black and with grey respectively. Lizard skin shoes are rife. They may be thick with wide soles for country wear. If they are forjthe town they have very high heels and are strapped as though they were the clovsn hoof. Little lizard skin boxes are made for powder to St into bags, while small travelling clocks have cases made of the skin. They open down the front like a small cupboard.
