ORGANISING RELIEF. FARMERS’ HEAVY LOSSES. (Pee United Peess Association.) WESTPORT, November 19. In connection with the recent flood damage, socials, dances, and concerts are being held in the town, and in the mining townships on behalf of the sufferers. Reports from up-cmm<- confirm tho first news that the farmers’ losses are very heavy. Westport, which is on a fiat, between the Buffer and Orawaiti Rivers, suffered by the flooding of both rivers, and there is a big like'ihood of the racecourse and the adjacent land on which the Technical High School is located being scverelv acccted by the action of the river If steps are not taken speedily to control the Orawaiti River near the entrance, which has widened, and has earned away a considerable portion of land.
