ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MUEDEE. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOE TRIAL. .Feb United Press Association.* WAIPAWA, September 28. A Maori youth named Hori Ngatoro committee for trial to-day on a charge of attempting to murder an elderly man, Edward Grace Watts, at Otane, on September 6. Accused, in a signed statement to the police, admitted entering Watts’s house during the latter’s absence. After taking food he lav down on a bed, where he was surprised by Watts. According to accused Watts punched him first, then they closed. Both shots of the gun were fired during a struggle for the possession of the weapon, one entering Watts’s left arm and side. Accused stated that he had been an inmate of a receiving home at Napier. The evidence of Watts went to show that as soon as he opened the bodroom door accused fired at him point blank. The second shot went off during the struggle..
