STRYMANS MURDER
DEATH SENTENCE COMMUTED. (Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, September 28. The State Cabinet commuted the death sentence passed on Maurice Strymans to imprisonment for life. Maurice Strymans, a Belgian sea captain, entered the Darlington Police Station on July 12, and informed the police that he had just shot a woman. The police hurried to the address ho gave, and found the body of a young woman, named Ruth Clarkson, in an expensively furnished flat, with revolver bullet wounds in her head. Apparently she had just been shot, as a phonograph in the room was still playing. Later Strymans was charged with murder, and found guilty.
