MINISTER OF EDUCATION.
VISIT TO MARLBOROUGH. CIVIC WELCOME AT BLENHEIM. (Pee United - bess Association.} BLENHEIM, September 28. Speaiang at the civic welcome to fi Hon. Mr Wright (Minister of Educatio*Jf the Minister said: “Marlborough is inevitably linked up with Wellington, for you have amalgamated and pooled your resources as it were, and we in Wellington recognise that Marlborough is very close to us. We look forward to the time when you will be even closer, when you will have a fleet of large, fast, ships - travelling between Wellington and Picton. When that time comes the association between the two districts will be even greater than at present. One thing I am determined on; 1 will not make promises—it may be unpopular, but it is essential that I should not tie my hands.” Subsequently Mr Wright visited the Marlborough College in company with members of the Board of Governors. This afternoon he visited the Springlands School and received a deputation in connection with a junior high school. The Minister will leave for Christchurch to-morrow morning.
