CHINESE ENCYCLOPAEDIA. PONDEROUS TOME FOR GENEVA. (Frau Asaoolatlon—By Telegraph—Copyright.) GENEVA, September 26. When Mr Chu unexpectedly and without notice launched his attack on the British policy in China he was in .the middle of the simple announcement that China intended to present to the League a copy of the Chinese encyclopaedia. The Chinese at present at Geneva, interviewed, admitted that the encyclopaedia, which had been in process of preparation for two centuries, was at I resent unprinted. It would cost several million dollars to print, probably entailing the raising of a foreign loan. Several hundred thousand dollars would be required to transport it to Geneva. The League would have to provide a special building to hold it. The Chinese concluded: “It would be easier to transport a pyramid from Egypt to Geneva than a Chinese encyclopaedia.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
