DOMINION POTATOES
CONCERN IN NEW SOUTH WALES. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SEED PURPOSSES. OPrens Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, September 27. Regarding the protest against the importation of New Zealand potatoes for the New England district, Mr Reynolds, senior agriculture instructor, says that he can allay any fears that these 'otatocs will be sold for seed. A Glen Inncs firm, which advertised New Zealand seed potatoes for sale, has been informed of its liability under the Quarantine Act it sold New Zealand potatoes for seed. Mr
Reynolds added that he had the assurance of the firm that the potatoes had not then arrived. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the potato growers in the New England district of New South Wales were greatly concerned at the alleged danger which the importation of New Zealand potatoes presented to that State. It was claimed that, in view of the fact that the climatic conditions of New England and New Zealand were almost identical, the diseases to which tubers grown in the South Island were subject would be introduced and flourish there.
