NOTICES TO CORRESPONDENTS.

D. Nicol.—Letters faintly written in pencil are not accepted by us. “G-.Y.,” Bomahapa.—Copper carbonate is not to be recommended for the treatment of oat seed. Formalin pickling will be found to be the moav effective disinfectant for oata. Dusting is intended for wheat only. Moreover copper carbonate is not procurable commercially in Kew Zealand, and even if it were its use privately is fraught with difficulties, involving the use of special apparatus if a thorough fumigation is to be effected. Any wheat treated in this way in .New Zealand has been done in bulk in the grain stores before distribution to growers.
