RACING IN AUSTRALIA.
COUNT CAVOUR’S EASY WIN. (Presc Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, September 26. (Received Sept. 26, at 5.5 p.m.) The Hawkesbury races were held in fine weather. _ The track was in pood going order despite the long dry spell. Count Cavour confirmed the confidence which his supporters placed in him, and could have won by a much greater margin than he did. Cawnpore jumped away smartly, but he was unable to maintain his advantage, and finished a very moderate third. The principal results were .as follows: JUMPERS’ FLAT. One mile and three furlongs.—Gadamin, 9.2. 1; Knighthood, 9.2, 2; Castles, 10.3, 3. Seven horses started. Gadamin led all the way, and won by a head, with six lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 27sec. THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP. One mile.—Reonui, 9.2. 1; Battlement, 7.4, 2; Kclgoola, 7.13, 3. Twelve horses started, including Bright Light. Derale Lad made the running, and led to the straight from Reonui and Battlement. The first-named won by half a neck, with Kelgoola six lengths away. Time, hnin 40sec. HAWKESBURY SPRING HANDICAP, Of 400sovs. One mile and three furlongs. Count Cavour, 9.2 1 Lady Lizzie, 7.8 2 Gleam Boy, 617 3 Twelve horses started, including Siaosi. Lady Lizzie led into the straight from Count Cavour, but the latter came along with a great hurst, and heading Lady Lizzie, woi. comfortably by half a length. Gleam Boy was two lengths further back. Time 2m . 23Jsec. RO* LEY MlLE.—King Cyllene, 8.2,1; Maksiccar, 6.9, 2; Cawnpore, 8.5, 3. There were 13 starters. King Cyllene led into (he straight, and beat Maksiccar by a head, with Cawnpore a length off. Time, 1 min 42scc. MOONEE VALLEY RACES. (Ptpss Association—Rv Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE. September 26. (Received Sept. 26, at 5.5 p.m.) At Monnec Valley the Tullamarine Handicap (one mile 3J furlongs) resulted as follows:—Snowfire, 7.8, 1; Affirm, 8.10, 2; Our Prince, 8.4. 3. Twelve horses started. In an exciting finish Snowfire prevailed, defeating Affirm in the last strides by a head, with Our Prince half a length away. Time, 2min 28sec.
