OTAGO ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING AND SOCIAL. The business proceedings of the Otago Anglers’ Association last evening were of the briefest description. It was the fortythird annual meeting of the association, and a few minutes sufficed to dispose of the business, such as the adoption of the annual report, of which a summary has been published, and the election of office-bearers. The chair was occupied by the president of the association, Mr W. A. M‘Kay, and there was a very large attendance of members. Mr M‘Kay moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the latter showing a fairly substantial credit balance, in a very few words, the motion being carried without discussion. Eleven new members wore elected. Tho following office-bearers were appointed for tho ensuing year;—President. Mr G. Kitchen; vice-presidents—Messrs R Haskall, I. Grant, F. T. Hordern. R. Patti- ; son, and S. Barnes; secretary, Mr R. Wilson; treasurer, Mr W. Finlayson; auditor, Mr C. A. Wilson; and committee—Messrs A. Spiers, J. M'Grcgor, A. Gillands, W M’Lennan. J. C. Whitelaw, W. J. Harridge, M. Barratt, O. Griffiths, L. Perry, and W. A. Raffils. This disposed of the business portion of the evening, and the anglers then proceeded to enjoy themselves with a programme composed very largely of a musical order, and mainly confined to songs, of which there were several. There was, of course, some time spent in recounting past experiences with the rod, and a few toasts of a formal kind were honoured. The social was probably the most successful of the gatherings the Otago anglers have had for many years.
