MOTOR CARS COLLIDE. WOMAN FATALLY INJURED. (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. September 16. so seriously injured that she died this morning in the Lewisham Hospital. the car in which Mrs Quinn was riding turned over twice after the collision, finally coming .to rest on its side. The other passengers in tho car were thrown out, but they escaped with a severe shaking. The Foi d car, driven by James Qumn, son of Mrs Quinn, was travelling east along Salisbury street, and a Maxwell driven by Miss Ruby Busch, of Amberley, was travel ling north along Madras street The cars met at the intersection, and evidently the drivers tried to avoid each other, but a smash was inevitable. When the cars came to a standstill the Maxwell had swerved, and was facing east down Salisbury street, and the Ford was lying on its side in front of the Maxwell. The Maxwell car was not damaged, but the Ford was wrecked. , , , An Inquest concerning Mrs Quinn s death was opened this morning and adjourned, after evidence of identification had been given. FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT.

INQUEST OPENED. An inquest into the circumstances sur rounding the death of Patrick Joseph O'Meara was opened at the Hospital yesterday, Mr J. R. Bartholomew. S.M.. sitting as coroner. , , It is understood that O Moara had been given a lift in a motor car late on Wednesday afternoon, and when nearing Allanton, (ho steering wheel broke, causing the car to capsize. He was admitted to Hospital on Wednesday night, suffering from fractured ribs, a fractured collarbone, and in ternal injuries, and died at 3 a.m. yesterday. . . Evidence of identification was given by Detective Milne, who said he had known O'Meara tor the past 10 years. Deceased was 49 years of ape. single, and had no fixed place of abode. As far as witness knew he had no relatives in New Zealand. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
