INJURED MAKING GOOD PROGRESS. ' EFFORTS OF DOCTORS PRAISED. (Press Association—Bj Telegraph—Copyright.; SYDNEY, September 16. Most of the injured in the train smash are progressing favourably. Two of those at the Murrnrundi Hospital are still in a serious condition. The body of John Reuben Mockridgo lies at the Scone Hospital. One of those rescued says that he was pinned hard and fast under the wreck age and could not move. The rescuers were chopping at the wood above his head and an axe blade came through and struck his ear He shouted loudly and the rescuers then worked round and extricated him. All the passengers speak gratefully of the heroism displayed by the doctors working on the spot. (Received Sept. 16, at 11 p.m.) All the injured arc showing an improvement. OPEN INQUIRY URGED. RAILWAY UNION’S DEMAND. SYDNEY. September 16. (Received Sept. 16, at 9 p.m.) The Secretary of the Australian Railways Union has notified the Minister of Railways that his union insisted that the Minister should advise the Governor that an investigation of the disaster and its causes was imperative and should be instituted immediately and also that the inquiry should be an open one conducted by a District Court judge.
