GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS. Messrs Dalgety and Co. [Ltd.) report as follows: Oats.—The market still remains very quiet. Only odd samples are coming to hand, hut merchants are showing little interest in these. Practically no inquiries for oats are being received from the North Island. As the big majority of oats grown in this province is sent to the North Island tor consumption, it is not difficult tc understand why the market is so dull. A good few lines of under-grade oats are on the market, but these are very difficult to quit at anything like value. We quote; A Gartons, 3s 3d, b Gartons, 3s per bushel, on Wheat.—Any milling quality coming to hand is being disposed of at up to 7a per bushel, on trucks, country stations. Although the price of flour has risen £1 per ton, the millers state that they will not pay more for wheat. Fowl wheat is in fair supply, and can be disposed of at from 6s lo 6s od per bushel, on trucks, country stations , Potatoes.—During the last week this market has shown a slight firming tendency. Local merchants are inquiring more freely, although the prices being offered are not in advance of those quoted last week, ine quantity going into consumption, however, is not yet great. Shippers are not operating except at prices in the vicinity of £6 per ton. Good tables are realising from £6 to £6 10a per ton, ex store, sacks in. Chaff—The quantity coming forward das been sufficient to meet the local demanu, with the result that prices remain steady. Local feeders are taking all the prime chaff, but other lines of medium and inferior quality are difficult lo fririt. Chaff of this description has to be taken into store and is slow of sale. Practically no shipping is beins done. We quote; Prime oaten sheaf, £5 IPs to £5 15s; inferior and medium, £3 IDs to £5 per ton, sacks extra. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Ltd.) report as follows: Oats.—lnquiries for seed purposes represent practically all the business passing at the present lime. Fair supplies of all grades are held in store, but holders are not disposed to sell at the present rates. e quote: A Gartons. 3s 3d-, B Gartons, 3s, sack? extra, on trucks, country stations Wheat.—An odd sample is still coming to hand and, if of' milling qualify. 7s. on trucks, ban be obtained. Fowl wheat is worth from 6s to 6? sd. sacks extra, on truck, country stations. Chaff.—The demand of .local consumers is net calculated to clean up all the chaff at present offering, consequently values for largo parcels must be baaed on shipping values, and this at. present, is about £5 10s sacks extra, ex truck, Dunedin; £5 10s to £6 los, ex truck, is being paid by local feeders for first quality- medium, to £5, and inferior from £3 10s. These grades are very slow ot sale. The mild winter, no doubt, is the primary cause of the poor demand. Potatoes.—This market remains in i an uncertain condition. One or two inquiries during the week looked hopeful for improved values, but the bulk of business resulting was not large. We quote good tables from £6 to £C 10s, ex truck, sacks in.
