DREDGING OUTSIDE THE HEADS. TO THE EDITOH. SIE, —An attempt to dredge outside the heads was made with dredge 222, but it failed owing to the motion of the sea. I am inclined to think that no bucket dredge can do this work where there is a seaway; If it is being done at any place in the world, perhaps that may serve as a guide. Otherwise it will bo futile for our Harbour Board to expect to do the impossible here. The board will have to heighten and lengthen the mole and try towing machines, like street mud-scrapers, over the bar on the ebb-tido, —T am, etc., Dubious.
