THE GOSPEL OF WORK.
SPORT SECONDARY CONSIDERATION. PRIME MINISTER’S CHIEF CONCERN. (Per United Press Association.) . WELLINGTON. July 7. A plea for less sport and more business and production was made by the Prims Minister in replying to a deputation to-day in support of the principle of summer time. .. . • “It seems to me, said Mr Coates, in replying to a statement that the introduction of daylight saving would give more time for sport and recreation to the physical benefit of the community, that what we have to direct our people to is not the need for more sport—there is a iOt or sport in the community already—but a greater output. Quite a lot of interviews I have are on tlic subject of getting more time for sport. We are doing fairly well for sport, but sport wont keep the people. We want healthy exercise, but at the same time the serious attention of the people needs to be directed to tho need for more effort,, more output, and more production, whether it be in connection with the secondary or primary industries. While it may be all right to come along and ask for moie time for sport, I am more concerned about other needs. We have only to look at our falling prices for butter, fruit, meat, and wool. Wo will have to make up these deficiencies.”
