The Governor-General of New Zealand and Lady Alice Fergusson arrived here this afternoon from Apia and were received on landing by the Governor and Lady Hutson. There were also present the members of the Executive Council, the Chief Justice, the Bishon of Polynesia, the Mayor of Suva, and the members of the Municipal Council. There was a guard of honour composed of the defence forces and a band. A large concourse of Fijians in gala attire and residents assembled and the town was beflagged. Their Excellencies are guests at Government House. On Tuesday afternoon there will be an ‘ At Home” at Government House with native ceremonies and mekes. VISIT TO NIUE ISLAND. (Peb Ukited Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 31. The Governor-General and party arrived at Niue on May 13. The guard of honour consisted of marines from the warships and returned Niue soldiers. There was an imposing reception at the schoolhouse Responding to the speech of welcome by the Resident Commissioner, Sir Charles Pergusson delivered a message from the King to the Niuians. He unveiled a large tablet containing the names of Nine men who served in the Great War. Beautiful weather was experienced during the two days’ visit.
