WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE
INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS. CLAIM FOR EQUAL STANDARDS. (Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, May 30. Mesdames Ley and Annie Riley and Misses Allen. Brompam, Chave-Collison, Gillman-Jones, Anamenz, Rhodes, Whiteham, with Mesdames Eccles-Snowden and Townshend as alternatives, are attending the Congress of the International Women's Suffrage Alliance, which has opened at the Snrbonne. A meeting of the committtee on Equal Moral Standards adopted a stronglyworded resolution against the compulsory notification, detention, and treatment of venereal cases, which is in direct opposition to Western Australia’s system, and is expected to cause contention in the congress. Dr Helen Bakewell and Misses May Kane and Whitebread-Edwards are representing New Zealand.—A. and N.Z. Cable. WIDE SCOPE OF CONGRESS. PARIS, May 31. (Received May 31, at 8 p.m.) The official opening of the concrc in the great ampitneatre at Sorbonne w. a brilliant affair and was crowd 'w‘ delegates from every part of the world. Mrs Corbett Ashby, in her opening speech, emphasised that the women of Japan a 1 Britain were greeting those of Brazil and Australia and New Zealand and would compare their problems. A. and N.Z.
