A SAVOY INNOVATION.
This afternoon and evening will mark an epoch in the history of the justly famous Savoy—the debut of still further improved entertainment for dancers in surroundings that the Savoy alone can offer. _ The Savoy Band is a new musical combination of really superb quality, and will play for the first time this afternoon, and at the supper dance in the evening. Six masters of syncopated melody lead by an expert of international experience have been secured, and their work will be nothing short of a revelation to Dunedin dancers. This band will be heard today for the first time in New Zealand, and it introduces a new style in ballroom music that will hold an instantaneuous appeal. The melody is produced with velvet smoothness and-wonderful flowing rhythm, while above its rise and fall comes . unique syncopated “wow-wow” effect lending new inspiration to those who glide on the polished floor under the mellow glowing lights. In presenting the Savoy Band to the Dunedin public the Savoy management strikes a new note that cannot fail to be appreciated. Informal dances including everything of the best will be arranged and advertised, and the Savoy invites all to come and make themselves at home in every way. The afternoon tea dances will be special features of the week, while the Saturday evening supper dances need no introduction. The mid-week dances will be specially popular and the new Savoy entertainments by the wonderful band will be noted for that happy freedom from conventionality that is so delightful. Perfect music in idea] surroundings together with a personal service to guests that is complete in every detail will be the motto of the reorganised Savoy dances.
