CONDITIONS IN SYRIA

A RIGOROUS CENSORSHIP. EVEN THE BIBLE NOT IMMUNE. (Frees Association—Bj Telegraph—Copyright.) DAMASCUS, May 26. Even the Bible is not above censorship, declares the Arab newspaper El Ahrad in a story of French censorship methods in Syria. Owing to the lamentable state of affairs in Sytja, the El Ahrad prepared, as an editorial, the first chapter of Isaiah, containing the prophet’s bitter complaint over Judah’s renellion and his exhortation to repentance, but the censor blotted out the lot. —A. and N.Z.
