NEW ZEALAND IN 1827. A VALUABLE PURCHASE. (Press Association—By Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, May 7. A book cf 160 sketches, painted by Augustus Earle, who made a world tour in a gunboat ia 1627, wasS sold at Sotheby’s sale for £IBOO. The volume includes noteworthy Australian and New Zealand sketches. The buyer is a London bookseller, who retains the volume intact in the hope that some public institution will purchase it.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
