HARRIERS.

The Civil Service Harriers hold their one mile and a-haif maiden race at Porbury Park on Saturday. Tho track was very heavy and fast times were impossible. A field of .11 was despatched from a good start. Passing the stand for the first time, Poulter <lssec) was leading Shanks (20sec), the rest being well strung out. Poulter continued to increase his lead, and with half a mile to go had a CO-yards lead from Kennedy (lOsec) and Shanks, with the four scratch men coming strongly. Kennedy retired with a quarter of a mile to go, and In a good finish Poulter had enough in reserve to stab off a strong challenge from Ewing (scratch), with Wilson, Smoieski, and Osborn following. Result: —W. Poulter (lOsec) 3. j Kwing (scrl 2, J. A. Wilson (scr) 3. Time, Omin 2seo. After the race a club run was held along the beach to Tomahawk and back via the road. Starting from Anderson's Bay Schoolroom, the University hares, Smith and Burton, laid a good trail circling round the Tomahawk lagoon to the far end of Tomahawk, through Hlghcltff, and then home to the school. The hounds made good going, and in a fast run home Mlrams, Douglas, Herman, and Mover were in front. The St. Hilda Harriers held their weekly run from the Dundas Street Methodist Schoolroom. There was a fair muster, 17 members being present. C. Tidey and C. Bissland laid an excellent trail leading down Dundas street, round past the Exhibition to the Port road as far as Burkes, where the trail led up the hill past the trig station on top of Signal Hill. Following a track, the pack divided Into slow and fast packs. In the run home several new members showed good form. The first men home were A. Foley, with .1 Boardman close behind, for the fast pack; and V. Duel! for the slow pack with K Mercer close at hand. The Cargill Road Methodist Harriers held their mile and a-half open race on Saturday. Twenty-four members started on a greasy track. W. Johnstone (limit) led the field the first time round, the rest of the field closing up. Coming round the hack, A. Barron (25sec) led, and finished with W. M'Xndoe close up. W. Johnstone and C. Dawson filling third place. Mr A. T. M’lndoo was starter, and Messrs Dawson and King were the Judges. Tho Keith Harriers held their mile maiden race at the Ross Greek Reservoir. W. Buchanan won after running a good raco from scratch. He was closely followed by S. Anderson (130yds). T. Buchanan was third. Tho members afterwards went for a run round the surrounding country, and were then entertained by the president, Mr J. Fraser.
