RACING AND TROTTING. May 7, B.—Marlborough R.C. autumn. May 7, 12.—Australian J.C. winter. May B. Amberley R.U. annual (at Riccarlon). May 13, 15.—Egmont R.C, winter. May 15.—North Canterbury R-O. autumn. May 20. 21.—Ashburton County R.C. autumn. May 20, 22.—Wanganui J.C. winter. .May 22.—Oamaru T.C. June 1,3, S.—D.J.C. winter. June 3, 5. Otaki Maori R.C. winter. June 3,5, 7. R.C. The racing and trotting calender for the existing season is on the threshold of conclusion. The Matlborough fixture deletes itself from the list of fixtures to-day, and so does the Amberley annual meeting,., which takes place at Riccarton. The Egmont meeting takes place on May 12 and 13, and the North Canterbury meeting on May 15. The cross country campaign opens at \\ unganui on May 20 and 22 and the Ashburton change of dates brings the meeting forward to May 20 and 21, to be followed by the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting on May 22. Then comes a meeting in which Dunedin is particularly interested, and that is the Dunedin winter mooting, which takes place on June 1. 3, and 5. the Auckland winter meeting will be held on June 3, 5. and 7, and the Otaki meeting comes in on June 3 and 5. No meeting of any great importance will then take place until the Wellington winter meeting "on July 8 and 10, when the Racing Conference also sits for an annual deliberation, on matters concerning the welfare of racing in New Zealand The Trotting Conference also holds its annual parliament during the same week which thus becomes one of the busiest periods on the calendar. Mr R. H Skipwith is credited with doing particularly good work at the barrier during the Waikato meeting. In one race ho sent away 22 horses from a perfect lino dispatch. Rangi Thompson, who deserves recognition as one of Now Zealand s best cross country horsemen is now training fl couplo of horses in the North Islann. A. H. Burt has been retained to ride Charlatan in his North Island engage--1,1 T. H. Lowry has decided to sell off all his horses at, present in training to make room for youngsters coining on He placed 1000 guinea-: on Phoenix Park during the Wellington Cup. but the price was considered too high, and subsequent form proved the opinion in that, direction lo bo correct. . , , F D Jones has taken m hand a yearliner half brother by Paladin to 1 ilbe*nThe condition? attached to the Grand National programme and the New Zealand Cup programme are to remain the same as last season , ... . . The Grand National meeting will lake place op Angus! 10. 12 and IL r , A yearling consigned to Mr G. D. Greenwood arrived from Sydney this week Three horses arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa for P. Riddle. They were Domewood, Parkwood, and Dixie I'ox. It may be taken for granted that they are goods worthy of importation Rampion .is undoubtedly the oeT two-year-old in Australia The manner m which he won the A.J.C. Breeders’ .Plate and the V.ll C. Maribyrnong Plate in the spring, and then accounted for the opposition m the A.J.C. Champagne Stakes, leave* no room for doubting this superiority. Cydon must rank as the best two-year-old tiby m the Commonwealth, and she also may be referred to as the second best of betage in the land. And which is the next best? (asks a Melbourne writer). On his deeds in Sydney since his arrival from New 'Zealand, Royal Tea must stand a great chance of claiming this distinction. He won City Tattersall’s Youthful Stakes in a manner which ielt no room for doubtuig his quality. Not only did he concede a substantial amount of weight to each of his opponents —in one ease this was 421 b—but ho beat them home in pointless style. It looks as if he is entitled to third place on the list of youngsters of the 1925-26 season. In Australia, Royal Tea has contested live races, and the worst he has done was to (ill third place. His other outings have netted two wins and two seconds. It is reported that a substantial offer was received for Royal Tea prior to his owner, Mr C. Omanuel. returning to New- Zealand. B. Deeley is once more receiving a good demand for his services in the saddle. The ’chaser Sturdee is showing pleasing work in his schooling over fences. Deucalion meets Fresco on Sib better terms at Riccarton to-day than when they met at Tirnaru. Tarlcton has only been allowed 21b from Deucalion, and he meets Fresco on lllb bettor terms. It will not occasion surprise if Tarlcton turns the tables on those who finished in front of him at Timnrn. Zarisee will probably start favourite in the Novice Stakes to be run at Riccarton to-day. There is also a promising filly named Cultivation engaged in the same race. Sprinkler, n chestnut brother to Pilliowinkie, E- amongst the acceptors for the Amberley meeting.
