SOUTHLAND HOSPITAL.

TENDERS FOR NEW BUILDING. (Fbom Our Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL, May 6. Twelve tenders have been received by the Southland Hospital Board for the construction of a new general hospital of 400 beds at Kew, and these were considered in committee at a meeting of the board held this afternoon. Generally speaking the tendency was very close, but in all cases the prices submitted were in excess of the architect’s estimate. The two lowest tenders have been retained, and will be submitted to the Director-General of Health for a recommendation, which, it is anticipated, will be available for the monthly meeting of the board on Thursday next. The twelve tenders submitted were drawn from Invercargill, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington.
