The Katoa arrived it Dunedin last night from Auckland, vi. Is. She was delayed by heavy southerly her on the run from Lyttelton. The vessel is now timed to sail to-morrow for Oanaru, Timaru, Wellington, Picton, and Auckland. The Holmdale arrived here yesterday afternoon from Wellington direct, after a rough passage of 45 hours. She is to sail to-day for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Opihi arrived early yesterday morning from Westport, via Oamaru, and was berthed at the Birch street wharf to discharge a part cargo of coal and load general merchandise. She is timed te sail tonight for Wellington, Nelson, and New Ply-, mouth, via ports. The Kamo is due here to-day from Wellington, with general cargo and case oil. She is to sail to-morrow for Bluff to complete discharge. The Walporl, loaded with coal for Timaru and Dunedin, is still bar-bound at Greymouth.
The Kotare is due here on Sunday with a cargo of timber from Waikawa. The Waikouaiti. which left Sydney *>n Monday evening, will not call at Bluff. She is proceeding direct to Dunedin, and should arrive on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. After discharging a large quantity of general cargo the Waikouaiti will proceed to Lyttelton and Timaru. The Wingatui is due at Dunedin on Sunday from Port Craig, and will load on Monday for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland.
The Karetu has been fixed to load at Newcastle, Sydney, and Hobart next week for Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Oamaru, and Bluff.
The steamer Devon is due at New Plymouth about May 17 from Australia to commence loading for West of England ports. She will afterwards load at Wanganui roadstead, Lyttelton, and other northern ports. The Waiotapu ’was expected to leave San Francisco on May 5 with Canadian and American cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Wairuna is due at Auckland about May 10 from Vancouver. She is carrying Canadian merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney Cargo discharged from the Ulimaroa at Wellington this week included transhipments ex the Hanau, Caprera, Mooltan, Tango Maru, Burma Maru, and Bendigo. The Arawa, with passengers and cargo from Southampton, is expected to arrive at Wellington on June 1. ’The motor ship Tort Hobart is timed to reach Timaru from Nelson on Monday to land a consignment of wool, frozen meat, end general cargo for the United Kingdom. Captain W. Deiley, of the coastal steamer Breeze, has resigned from the Canterbury Steam Ship Company’s service. Captain Sheppeard, who has been acting master on the Storm during Captain Manson’s absence on leave, is taking over the command of the Breeze. Captain F. M’Kenzie is temporarily in charge of the Storm. Mr R. Pryde has joined the Storm as second officer. The Remucra left Wellington on Wednesday for Timaru and Lyttelton to load for London. The vessel will return from Lyt telton to Wellington, and will sail from the latter port on May 22 for Southampton and London, via Pitcairn Island, Panama, and Curacao. The Raranga arrived at Auckland on Wednesday morning from Newcastle to commence Homeward loading. She will leave Auckland on May 11 for loading at Gisborne, Waikokopu, Napier, and Wellington. The vessel is timed to sail finally from Wellington on May 27 for Genoa, Havre, and London, via Cape Horn. MANUKA DUE TO-DAY. From Melbourne, via Bluff, the Manuka is due at Dunedin this morning. On arrival she will berth at the cross wharf to land passengers and discharge a quantity of general cargo. The Manuka is timed to sail at 8 o’clock to-night for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Melbourne. Monteforte and J. Rees; and one steerage. THE CITY OF BATAVIA. The City of Batavia is now expected at Dunedin on Sunday from Timaru to continue discharging New York cargo. She will complete discharge at Bluff. BAD WEATHER DELAYS WAIHEMO. A wireless message received from the captain of the Waihemo states that the vessel was delayed by bad weather yesterday, and will not arrive at Dunedin until this morning in consequence. The steamer, which has a large quantity of cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge here, left Lyttelton at 7.15 p.m. on Wednesday. SUSSEX FROM EASTERN PORTS. The Sussex was expected to leave Auckland yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to discharge the remainder of her cargo from Calcutta, Singapore, and Samarang. She is due here about May 18. PARBOEA FROM LIVERPOOL. The steamer Pareora is due at Auckland about May 13 from Liverpool, via Panama. She is bringing genera! cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Pareora should reach this port about May 29. - ■ i ■ VANCOUVER MAIL STEAMERS. The Aorangi, from Auckland, arrived at Vancouver at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29. The vessel sailed on Wednesday on the return voyage, and is due at Auckland on May 23. The Niagara left Sydney yesterday for Vancouver, via ports. She is due at Auckland on May 10, and will leave on Tuesday, May 11. POET HARDY FROM LIVERPOOL. / The Port Hardy arrived at Wellington on Tuesday morning from Auckland to unload a quantity of Liverpool cargo. She is expected to sail to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. The vessel is due here on May 11, and will ; subsequently load at Bluff, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland for New York, Boston, and London. THE CANADIAN EXPLORER. A wireless message has been received from the Canadian Explorer stating that she is encountering strong head galea and does not expect to reach Auckland until this morning from Halifax. The vessel is due at Dunedin about May 20. ■ <t» HERTFORD LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Cabled advice states that the eteamer Hertford left Liverpool on May 1 with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. She is due at Auckland about June 7, and at this port about June 23. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. THE CANADIAN CONQUEROR Cabled advice has been received stating that the Canadian Conqueror sailed from Halifax on April 30 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland on June 9 and at Dunedin about June 22. CANADIAN MILLER IN POET. With general cargo from Halifax, including motor cars and motor parts, the Canadian Miller arrived at Dunedin yesterday afternoon, and was berthed at the Victoria wharf. Leaving Halifax on March 1, the vessel experienced a fine weather run to Colon, where she arrived on March 12. Passage through the Panama Canal was obtained and departure from Colon taken on the same day. A fine weather, uneventful trip was made across the Pacific, the vessel arriving at Auckland on April 10. The . rate of exchange on the cargo are: Canada 4-88 dollars, U.S.A, 4.66 dollars. Captain G. M’Coneehy is in command, and with him are the following officers; Chief, Mr H. O. Griffin; second, Mr B. D. Ranns; third, Mr C. E. Moore; chief engineer. Mr S. Hutchinson; second, Mr E. Griffith; third, Mr G. T. Redstone: fourth, Mr F. C. M'Naughton; wireless operator, Mr C. R Ward; chief steward, Mr J. A. Dunlop. The Canadian Miller will load a quantity of wool and rabhitskins to-day, and will sail bonce for Wellington and Auckland to complete loading .'»r New York, Boston, and Montreal.
ATHENIC HOMEWARD BOUND. The Athomc, which sailed from Wellington on April 9 for Southampton and London, departed from Colon on Sunday evening last in continuation of her Homeward voyage. MAMARI CLEARS MONTEVIDEO. The Mamari, which loaded at New Zealand ports and sailed finally from Wellington for Loudon on April 11, cleared Montevideo last Sunday afternoon. KOREAN PRINCE FROM CANADA. On her first visit to Dunedin, the steamer Korean Prince reached port yesterday afternoon. She berthed at the Victoria wharf to discharge several hundred tons of general merchandise and case oil from New York and Eastern Canadian ports. The vessel loaded case oil at New York ; steel at Louisberg, and general merchandise at St. John. She sailed from St. John on March 9, and after bunkering at Newport News, readied Colon on March 22, and cleared Balboa the same day. Exceptionally severe wintry weather was experienced at St. John and Louisbcrg. The loading of the vessel was delayed considerably by a continuation of blizzards, and the ground was covered with 6ft of snow. Louisberg Harbour was nearly all frozen over. A Government icebreaker was employed every morning smash ing a passage through the ice to keep the port open. Ice yachts were sailing over the frozen harbour within a few feet of the channel, where the Korean Prince was berthed. Fine weather, however, prevailed .on the voyage, which was uneventful. The Korean Prince is owned by the Prince jcini of London. Her usual trade is between America, Africa and Brazil. She carries a crew of 43 all told Captain F Taylor is in command, and he has with him the following officers: —Chief, Mr E. Bell; second, Mr E Brodie; third, Mr E. Paterson; chief engineer, Mr W. Kay, second, Mr J. Robirson; third, Mr F. Johnson; fourth, Mr J. Tighe; wireless operator, Mr H. Rowe; chief steward, Mr T. G. G oldsworthy. The Korean Prince is to sail this afternoon for Castlecliff (Wanganui) to continue discharge She will proceed thence to Westport, and after replenishing her bunkers there will go to Sydney to land the remainder of her freight.
