"PUSH ON."

PRIME MINISTER’S SLOGAN. BUSY TIME IN AUCKLAND. (Fbo?i Oub Own Correspondents AUCKLAND, April 14. Tire Prime Minister has been a very busy man during the last two or three days, receiving people desirous of placing some public or private interest before him. Mr Coates does not care to send anyone away without a word or two. Since his arrival on Monday he has been the busiest man in town. The motor tours in the country where he has met friends of the Reform Party in some 10 centres of the Eden electorate, have taken up a considerable part of his time, and Mr Coates has found it exceedingly difficult to adhere to the programme mapped out for him. His motto in daily life as well as in national politics is “push on," and the spirit of this slogan has communicated itself to his staff, the members of which work at high pressure most days of the week. This morning following a heavy day, Mr Coates was early astir. Breakfast over he was busy with his secretaries at the Grand Hotel, and before long the corridor was thronged with over a score of men and women seeking an interview with the head of the Government. No preference was shown in the matter of entrance tc the room, the Prime Minister seeing those who called in the order cf their arrival. At 9.45 o’clock he was due to leave in his car for Gratia in the Eden district, but when the clock on the stairs chimed ten there were callers in the corridor patiently waiting “.Mr Coates simply can’t turn people away,” remarked a local M.P. “Mr Massey had a lot of patience but he always stuck to his programme. Our late chief would probably have teen on his way hy now. Mr Coates is different. He must see everyone, even if he has to make up the lost time on the road.” Mr Coates left late for his appointment at Gratia, but made good time and was received by an , enthusiastic gathering.
