SMUGGLING OF SILK
OPERATIONS IN AUSTRALIA. SCARVES WRAPPED ROUND WOMAN’S BODY. (Pres* Association—Tj Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY. April 14. The search of a young woman passenger who arrived by a Japaneses liner brought to light a number of valuable silk scarves wrapped closely round her body. Others were hidden about her person and her luggage. A subsequent investigation at her residence led to the seizure of silks and other Eastern goods valued at £IOOO, supposed to be part of the proceeds of extensive smuggling operations carried on over a lengthy period.
