MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.
OTAGO ASSOCIATION,
The annual meeting o£ the Otago Miniature Rifle Association was hold la-.t evening at the Moray Place Range. Air C. T. Callis presided over a small attendance o£ delegates from the affiliated clubs. It was shown that there were no matters of outstanding interest which claimed the attention o£ the association during the past year. The attendance on the range had not been equal to that of the previous year, and the interest formerly taken by a few enthusiastic shootists seemed to have waned somewhat. This was probably attributable to the business pressure caused by the opening of the Exhibition. Ihc mterclub matches were, however, very keenly contested. The association fired a series of friendly matches with the Kiwi Club in which the club proved that it had always to he reckoned with. In the Dominion Association matches the Otago Association’s clubs did not show to advantage, but in the individual shoots for the New Zealand championship two or three of the members had been conspicuous among the high scorers. ihe attendance at the Saturday night contests had not been so consistent during the past season, and it was yoped that this popular handicap night would not be allowed to wane through the indifference ot members. The association had been strengthened at the beginning of the season by the affiliation of a new club formed by men of the tramways department. While the balance sheet showed that the association was running close to the wind most of the time, it was hoped that more interest would be shown by members after the close of the Exhibition. There was a credit balance of £7 2s sd, which, under the circumstances, was considered very satisfactory. Mr Finder raised the question of compolling teams to shoot on the night fixed by the association. He said that several club teams failed to put in an appearance on the night set down in the syllabus last season. He moved —“That all clubs be instructed that members of teams must shoot on the night appointed for a match.” —The motion was carried. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Air C. T. Callis; vice-president, Mr R. G Finder; secretary. Air P. H. Davies; treasurer, iSIr C. T, Callisj auditor, Air E. R. Burton; handicapper, Air F. J. Silvi.us. It was decided to open the season on the evening of Thursday, Alay 6, with a handicap sweepstake match. Alessrs F. J. Silvius, H. Pettet, F. Grave, and P. H. Davies were appointed a Syllabus Committee. A vote of thanks was passed to the donors of prizes for the Christmas shoot.
