SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

PATEAROA CLUB. The Patoaroa Collie Dog Club’s third annual trials were held on the Patearoa Domain, and as on previous occasions, proved a pronounced success. The weather was tine, the attendance was good, and competitors came from distant parts. It is only necessary to mention such men as Mr John Anderson, of Bog Roy, Messrs A. Aubrey. J. Smillie and E. Davis, of Waimate, Mr Jas. Donald, of Pairau, Mr Chas. M’Erlane, of Gimmerburn, and Mr I). Heffernan of Moonlight, to show that the quality of work was of the highest standard. Mr Geo. Ross, of Palmerston, was judge, and his decisions gave unanimous satisfaction. The entries showed such a substantial increase that it was necessary to continue well into the third day in order to complete the events. The sheep, which were provided by Messrs Chas., Hore and Geo. Warded, proved entirely satisfactory and were the subject of favourable comment by the judge.
